Jay is CEO of Matthews Europe, the Middle East & Africa (EMEA), and boasts more than two decades of experience within the real estate development, investment, project management, and construction sectors from the UK, North America, Singapore, and Middle East markets.

Holding senior positions with Wyndham Capital Partners, AECOM Capital and Matthews, Jay established the EMEA branch of Matthews Developments in Dubai in 2014 alongside Managing Director, Steven Coates.

As Chief Executive Officer, Jay has been responsible for project appointments in the UAE, including Dubai’s multi-award-winning Museum of the Future, commissioned by the UAE Prime Minister’s Office in partnership with His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. He also was part of a mixed-use prime beachfront development La Mer, and BEEAH Group’s globally celebrated, AAA-Grade LEED Platinum HQ in Sharjah, designed by the late Dame Zaha Hadid.

With a rare, comprehensive knowledge of project delivery, honed over the last 20 years as an owner, investor, developer, project manager, and consultant working across a variety of asset classes, Jay is recognized as one of the EMEA construction industry’s most respected development experts, benefitting from trusted connectivity with some of the most strategic, innovative, and powerful leaders in the region.

He is a member of the UK’s Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors, the Dubai Future Foundation Fellowship, and the Canadian Government & International Trade Ministry Infrastructure Roundtable. Jay holds a bachelor’s degree in economics and political science from Simon Fraser University, Canada, and a master’s degree in property development and finance from London’s South Bank University. A former professional athlete, Jay was a member of the Canadian Olympic team.
