Steven is the Managing Director and one of the Founders of Matthews Europe, the Middle East & Africa (EMEA). An Honorary Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, he possesses a rare development capability with experience that covers a broad spectrum of real estate assets, with a proven track record leading and delivering large-scale mixed-use assets in both the UK and Middle East marketplaces. Highly regarded in his field, Steven is exceptionally well-connected at all levels within government, clients, partners, and grade-A designers. He works regularly with leading management consultants on early development and commercial planning for large-scale, complex real estate across the Middle East, UK, and European markets.

From 2005 to 2010, Steven was a full Equity Partner and Board Member of Davis Langdon in the Middle East, delivering project and cost management across a huge portfolio of work that covered all asset classes. During this period, the Middle East business of Davis Langdon grew tenfold to circa 600 staff, with Steven going on to lead the most profitable part of the AECOM Middle East Business — Program, Cost & Consultancy (PCC) — following the sale of Davis Langdon to AECOM in 2010.

With an exceptional professional background, skillset, and deep knowledge of real estate development and delivery in the Middle East and UK, Steven established the Europe & the Middle East business of Matthews in 2014. In their first decade, the Matthews Europe & the Middle East team has successfully delivered landmark large-scale mixed-use assets, including the Museum of The Future for Meraas and the Dubai Future Foundation, La Mer for Meraas in Dubai, Palace Hotels for Boutique Group, Therme Dubai, various works for BEEAH Group in Sharjah and the Governments of Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Saudi Arabia (KSA). Today Matthews has an extensive portfolio of work across the GCC and European markets.
