The Dallas Water Commons is a dynamic public–private partnership between the City of Dallas and The Dallas Wetlands Foundation. This wetlands project is unique because of its location – the urban core of one of the fastest-growing U.S. regions. The future of cities is linked to: water conservation, water filtration, and flood management. The Dallas Water Commons provides all three.
Matthews Development is a key partner in the development of the Dallas Water Commons, a transformative 15-acre urban wetlands park just south of downtown in the Cedars neighborhood. The firm is giving the catalytic gift of land upon which the new constructed wetlands will be built, enabling the public park focused on water. The firm is collaborating with the Dallas Wetlands Foundation, the City of Dallas Parks and Recreation Department and Dallas Water Utilities to convert an industrial site into a public space that filters stormwater runoff before it enters the Trinity River.
As a real estate development and investment firm, Matthews Development is contributing its expertise in urban development and project management, as well as its commitment to enhancing green infrastructure, to ensure the successful implementation of the Dallas Water Commons.
