At Matthews West, we’ve designed the Oceanfront Presentation Centre and Public House to be the social heart of the Oceanfront Squamish community. Positioned next to a 7-acre public park and community plaza, this building is a welcoming landmark—built to bring people together and showcase the vision behind our master-planned waterfront neighborhood.
Mass timber is at the core of the building’s structure, highlighting our commitment to using renewable, local materials. Natural yellow cedar shake and galvanized metal finishes reflect Squamish’s industrial past while embracing a sustainable future. By using mass timber, the building also sequesters carbon, significantly reducing its environmental footprint.
Inside, the Presentation Center features an open-concept design with expansive glass walls that blur the line between indoor spaces and the surrounding park. It’s a space to introduce the Oceanfront Squamish project, celebrate local culture, and host the community.
The adjacent Public House—home to House of Lager, a craft brewery and restaurant—is designed as a year-round gathering place. With patios that open directly onto the park and offer views of Howe Sound, it delivers a vibrant, weather-friendly setting that reflects the spirit of Squamish. Dedicated solely to the art of lagering, House of Lager brings a fresh, community-focused addition to the waterfront—reinforcing the development’s focus on quality, craft, and connection.
Purpose-built for hospitality and engagement, this building is a physical expression of Matthews West’s commitment to placemaking—creating lasting spaces that foster sustainability, culture, and shared experience in the heart of Squamish.
