Set along the natural shoreline of Abu Dhabi’s Saadiyat Island, Jumeirah at Saadiyat Island Resort is a landmark in sustainable coastal hospitality. Designed with a contemporary architectural language that reflects its unique island setting, the multi-award-winning resort integrates natural materials, clean lines, and light-filled spaces to deliver a sophisticated and environmentally sensitive guest experience. Matthews provided Cost Management services on the resort project.
The design is grounded in a low-impact approach, with buildings carefully positioned to preserve the island’s protected sand dunes and respond to prevailing climatic conditions. With 293 rooms and suites, the futuristic and eco-conscious resort employs passive design strategies, including optimized building orientation, solar shading, and natural ventilation where possible, reducing energy loads while maximizing comfort.
With carefully planned site layout and integrated landscape design to its commitment to marine biodiversity protection, Jumeirah at Saadiyat Island represents a holistic integration of luxury, sustainability, and environmental stewardship. Incorporating high-performance building envelopes, energy-efficient MEP systems and water conservation technologies, aligning with Estidama Pearl Rating System and international green building standards, the resort actively also reduces its environmental impact by eliminating single-use plastics, using recyclable amenities, and working with partners focused on sustainable practices.
