Originally built in 1944 as the home of King Saud, then transformed into a museum in 1999, Red Palace is being redeveloped into an ultra-luxury, 70-key boutique hotel to capture its enchanting history in a unique new urban destination.
Located in Futah in the heart of old Riyadh, an array of sensitively designed features has been added to Red Palace including spectacular landscaped grounds, a luxury spa, a selection of high-end culinary concepts, a function hall, an exclusive private members club and an art gallery.
Working with AEDAS and award-winning French Interior Designer Tristan Auer, the 20,500 sq m project celebrates Red Palace’s heritage whilst focusing upon its dynamic future as a LEED Gold and WELL certified development. Matthews provided Development, Project and Cost Management on this culturally significant project during the pre-contract period.
One of three renovation projects being undertaken by Boutique Group, Red Palace joins Riyadh’s TuwaiqPalace and Al Hamra Palace in Jeddah as one of the landmark properties undergoing a transformative redevelopment process.
With the intention of defining and delivering a unique, ultra-luxury Saudi hospitality experience, the renovated palaces have been carefully redesigned to promote and preserve the city’s rich cultural heritage and boost the regional economy, enhancing Saudi Arabia’s position as a leading cultural tourism destination and a vibrant focal point of local community engagement.
